I get comments often asking how do I work with Lilith? I understand the frustration of not knowing where or how to start, especially when information on Lilith is so limited. You’ve got the myths of her, she’s been around since the time of Innana when she was one of her sex priestesses. Then a wind and storm spirit/demon, then the first wife of Adam, who refused to submit. Then stories of her being a demon,a succubus and birthing demons after leaving the garden of Eden. Stories of her being Lucifer’s wife, queen of hell, etc. and on and on.
Like what is true and what isn’t? I think all of the myths and stories as power, even if it’s not how we want to see her. She is a complex dark goddess who also has demon aspects to her. In actuality, she is both. Just like a woman, she is complex and not black or white. Just like all of us, she has shadow aspects to her as well. This is where the real power lies, when we work with all her aspects, including her demon aspect. Her shadow aspects. This is when we truly unleash ourselves from patriarchy.
Cause if you think about it as soon as a woman stands up for herself and doesn’t comply she’s called a bitch, a witch, evil, a demon! So why not embrace that shadow part of ourselves? For in integrating the shadow, we free ourselves of the shame that was placed on us to keep us small and compliant. Facing the fact that we will be called these things is a small part of facing our Witch Wound.
So how do we start working with Lilith? I always like to build an altar, offer her symbols of snakes, snake shed if you have any, roses, dark chocolate, wine and if you’re comfortable even some of your menstrual blood. She is the perfect goddess if you want to reclaim your dark feminine power, including the power behind your menstrual cycle. Next, just show up everyday, talk to her, pray to her, leaver her offerings. This how you build a relationship with Lilith.
Of course the PDF you downloaded from the previous email is a great way to start working with her too. Trust me when I say this, if you’re feeling called to work with Lilith there’s a reason. You may not be consciously aware of what the reason could be of course, but it is there somewhere in your subconscious or unconscious.
